Robotic Arm Hardware
Led by Tristan Dolenc, the Robotic Arm Hardware team is engaged in the hardware design, testing, and construction of a robotic arm that is capable of very powerful and articulate movement.
To enable carrying large loads, the team's design employs worm gears to drive the arm due to their exteremely high torque boosts. From typing on a keyboard to precisely rotating a screw in place, a custom multi-purpose end effector allows for greater versatility when it comes to interacting with the rover's environment.
Currently, the end effector and base plate designs are at their final design stages, and the waterjet cutter manufacturing of aluminum parts based on the remaining components has begun.
